Verrucas
What are verrucas?
Verrucas are warts that appear on the sole of the foot and are caused by an infection with one of the strains of the human papilloma virus. They can be painful enough to affect the way you walk and run. You can distinguish them from corns or hard skin by the tiny black dots in the middle of them - which are actually blood vessels.
You can get verrucas easily, especially from changing room floors or swimming pools (not the pools themselves!), and they may eventually go away naturally. However, this can take up to two years and most people want to get rid of them as soon as possible.
Treatment
We will diagnose the verruca and give you treatment for it.
Currently we offer a caustic treatment and debridement - cutting away the dead tissue following an acid treatment which is usually effective. More difficult cases require more involved treatments such as Cryotherapy - NB We do not offer this service presently. This will take between 2 -10 depending on the size of the verruca.
