Running Shoes

Generally a stability shoe from Brooks such as the Adrenaline GTS is recommended for use with orthotic devices. Other recommended makes include New Balance - which is particularly good for wider feet as they come in width fittings. Asics are also suggested as an alternative.

It is important to note that whilst correct running shoes are important - they are only 20% of the contributor to lower limb function. It is always a good idea to have your gait analysed by a Podiatrist to get the most from your shoe selection and to holistically assess your lower limb function whilst running.

It is a myth that a stability shoe and orthotic device can "over correct" - you should use a stable shoe and build the orthotic prescription with this in mind.

Cushioning shoes have been shown to contribute to injury due to instability imparted at foot strike.
